52 marathons in 52 weeks

MELBOURNE - She ran 52 marathons in as many weeks, has passed accidents, illness, loneliness and a permanent jet lag. But in the end Tristan Miller has done it: and so, after crossing the finish the last competition, held in his honor in his Melbourne, Australia 33/enne amateur athlete entered in the Guinness Book of Records. Hundreds of people have welcomed him as a hero of the Australian city Park in Alberta, where he ended the last effort.
Miller has competed for a year in 42 countries on all continents, consuming seven pairs of shoes and collecting the equivalent of € 11,000 for UNICEF. He recorded his best time of 3 hours and 3 minutes in Berlin and came second in un'ultramaratona 100 km in Mongolia. In total, he ran for more than 2300 miles on trails that wind through deserts, mountain passes, major cities, the Great Wall of China and even the frozen wastes of Antarctica.
The extreme marathoner said he started racing six years ago following a divorce, but to give him the final push, last year was he lost his job with Google, which closed its office in Melbourne during the global financial crisis.
